holiday crafting

every year i find about a thousand things on line that i want to make or do.. every year... I probably do one or two of those things. This year is no exception, especially since Savannah is getting her tonsils out next Wednesday. I am sure that most of my Christmas Crafting time will be spent snuggling and watching barbie or princesses :0), but i thought i'd show off what I'm liking.

thankful

the past few weeks i've been struggling.
so today i decided for the month of November I need to look at the little details in my life and find things to be grateful for.

So today..I am grateful for my parents. In the past few weeks several things have happened in our family, and I am grateful for their strong examples. I am thankful that they only live moments away, and that I can lean on them when I really need to.
I am thankful for my mom, and the service she provides me each day by watching Miss. Savannah. I am eternally grateful for this.
I am thankful for my dad, and his quick sense of humor and that he can make any bad situation look good.
All in all, I love my parents very much.

I updated the blog. six new posts below!!!

the punkinin hat

I told savannah she had to wear a hat the other morning when we left for grandma's house because she had wet hair. I put this hat on her.
She said, "uh.. not dat hat. it's orange."
I said, "what is bad about orange? "
"it's a punkin, and i a big girl. big girls don't wear punkin hats." She said with hands on hips.
I said, "But Aunt Becca sent it to you."
She said, "Aunt Becca Crazy. She my best friend."
I asked, "So you want to wear the hat?"
giant sigh
"Yes."
I said, "Let's take a picture so Aunt Becca can see your hat."
She said, "Yes."
I snap picture.
She says, " Aunt becca in the camera??"

oh what a sweet and sassy girl.

fly in.

savannah took a spill and was covered in mud. she didn't mind though, until it was time to go, and then she had to be washed up before she could get in the truck.

every year, my dads flying club hosts a remote controlled airplane flyin in Alpine. It is always in the fall, and we always go. The colors of the leaves, the water, everything about it is beautiful. This year was no exception.
We spent our time watching grandpa fly, watching daddy fly, riding the four wheeler, throwing rocks in the lake, getting muddy, watching sheep, and eating great food.
We also went to grandpa's flyin at 7-N ranch this fall. Savannah got to go camping with grandma and grandpa while I went to school, and then the next day begged to go back up. It was a beautiful fall day, and we enjoyed ourselved.

princess belle

it's true.. savannah is a princess this year. She chose belle. her favorite. She loves wearing her costume and will wear it for several days in a row. She would probably live in it if I allowed her. What a sweetie. When we went to our ward trunk or treat she had talked about it all day ,but when we arrived she got very shy and would only whisper trick or treat. She wanted mommy or daddy to hold her or be right next to her the whole time. She told me several times, all those udder kids are spooky. She has such a tender heart.

pumpkin patch

we took savannah to the u-pick it red barn to pick out a pumpkin this year. She thought it was about the best thing she had ever seen. She stood in awe of all the giant pumpkins, and then spied the ones "just her size". She spent a good thirty minutes picking up pumpkins, puttin them pack, picking up some more and putting them back until she found just the right one. it was perfect, and hasn't left her side since we bought it. She's tried to take a bath with it, shes cleaned it, cooked with it, and slept with it. (at the foot of her bed) She checks on her pumpkin daily.
She also enjoyed the straw maze and wanted to go through the maze again and again. What a perfect family night.

pumpkin carving

This was the first year we carved with Savannah. What fun. She loved it.. okay i take that back. she loved/hated it.
Loved
-getting to color on the pumpkins to make a face.
- watching daddy cut the face out and popping the eyes out.
-watching mommy reach inside to get the "pumkin uts" pumpkin guts out.
-lighting them up and oohing and ahhing them.

Hated
-the smell. honestly gagged and almosted puked. priceless.
-touching the insides. "oooh sooo icky"
-waiting for it all to be finished so she could "light those pretty pumpkins up"

decorating cookies.

each halloween, it is tradition in our family to decorate cookies. This year was no exception, except that Savannah really got into it this year. It is so fun watching her enjoy the holidays. I am so excited to see what she does this Christmas.

some things i want to remember:
-Savannah using about ten pounds of frosting and sprinklers (sprinkles) on her cookies. So much in fact that we had to throw hers away, because they became like concrete.
-We wore some masks to deliver our cookies to some friends. Savannah thought we were funny looking and kept laughing and laughing at us, except for daddy.. he is REAL SPPPOOKKY!!
-She loves wearing her halloween pajamas with the little skirt they came with. They are dancing pajammies.
-Savannah kept jumping out and around the corners yelling at us ,and saying oooh i scaring at you.

2 1/2 is so fun.

Some fun things about Savannah:

Things she says:
-I am a beautiful princess.
-that is delicious
-her full name
-when you ask her how old she is, she says “two and a half”
-before bed I ask her who loves her, and she lists the following: Becca, Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Allie, Hallie, Uno, Izzie, Reese, (those five are animals), and Jesus. Then she tells me that Jesus lives in the temple and he’s watching you. So cute.
-when I have something she wants she says so sweetly, Mama you share with me, pretty please. Ugh who can tell her no…
-bi noclars (binoculars)
-popple sycle (popsicle)
puts her pointer finger on her forehead and says think think think.
-liblblary (library)

Things she does:
-sings the ABCs, but when she gets to the end and says, and now I know my ABC’s she doesn’t stop she starts the whole song over again.
-knows all her colors.
-can count to ten…almost, or mostly when she wants to.
-obsessed with princesses. Knows all the Disney princesses names
-loves to watch A Goofy Movie.
-still the pickiest eater alive. Her tonsils come out in October. Hopefully that will help???
- loves to color with colored pencils.
-sorts colors. All the red ones here, blue ones there.
-we are trying to get her to say her prayers, but she just listens and then yells AMEN at the end.
-loves nursery (too bad she catches ALL her colds there)
-requests ice cream every time we go somewhere
- still takes a killer three hour nap in the afternoon. (thank heavens)
-loves stickers, painting and play dough
-loves to do puzzles and read.
-loves it when I turn on music. She dances and dances.
-loves bubbles, going to the play ground, and going for rides in nannah's truck (our geo tracker)

a wedding

in june, nathan's little sister got married. the kids had a fun time playing in grandma and grandpa thompsons back yard. Shantel was beautiful bride. what a fun day.

check it out.. i updated the blog. there are four new posts below.. expect more this week. yeah!!!

cutting hair.

savannah cut her own hair this week. it's my own fault, sissors were left within her reach, but I think she did me a favor. I was trying, debating and putting off cutting her hair shorter, and now it's short. a short a-line bob. sooo cute.
p.s. you'd think from the past few posts that my child is always "nakie" well.. it's summer and you know how it goes. she thinks its fun, so i hope you don't mind. :0)

potty trained

i'm not going to lie..this was the EASIEST thing we have done so far, easier than taking the bottle away, easier than getting her to sleep in her toddler bed all night, and easier than thinking about taking the binks away. (thats next one the list or she'll be in kindergarten with it :0))
savannah loves her princess potty in fact she cried for it, and has been fairly easy to potty train. oh and she loves stickers, so putting a sticker on the potty chart was the best reward.
