petri dishes

so it's true... i work with petri dishes. ugh. Don't get me wrong, i love teaching, LOVE it, but the illnesses jeez...i'd like to go to school in a giant bubble or maybe stay at home and skype my lessons to my class every day..ugh..
so here i am a human experiment of how long it takes a teacher to get the slime flu (what my kids call it)...i'm going on 52 days slime free.. wish me luck.
here are a few of my secrets..
*insist every 45 seconds that my kids at school use hand sanitizer.
*make them sing the ABC's twice while washing their hands.
*if someone sneezes or coughs i douse them in Lysol... okay not really.. but they do have to go wash their hands..
* douse my classroom in Lysol twice a day.. myself 15 times.. :0)
*eat lots of oranges ( I doubt this is doing anything ... really???)
*use 3-4 bottles of hand sanitizer a week.. it's a rule you know... unless you like slime.

and how do I avoid giving it to my adorable little girl... you might ask..

*sing the ABC's 14 times while washing my hands when I get home..
*manditory hand sanitizer after we leave any store.
*she only gets to leave the house at odd hours when most people aren't out and about..like walmart at 4 a..m... JUST KIDDING. But seriously we are staying home alot these days..
*watch the husband and myself like hawkes..a little obssessive yes... worth it.. hopefully.

all in all
here's to hoping for a slime free holiday season..
oh and are you going to vaccinate your little ones? tell me what your plans are...

Has to have her tonsils taken out. ugh...
tell me it isn't as bad as i think it will be..
but hopefully she won't have to deal with being sick as much, and neither will mama.

you can't hide..

note to self...
you can't hide from the bishopric forever.. he he he..
so heres the story.
Last April we turned off our cell phones, and got internet and a home phone...we haven't really passed out our home phone number, and didn't give it to the bishopric, but they still found us..
and we have a new calling. NURSERY LEADERS
to be honest, we couldn't be more excited. it was our calling in our old ward, and we really don't know what to do in relief society or elders quorum..so thank goodness they found us...
Yeah for Nursery!!!

just a little update...

well.. with Nate in school and working, and I've gone back to teaching, time to blog seems far and inbetween.
So first Savannah..
*has gone through two shoe sizes in the past two months.
*is getting tall enough that size 2T t-shirts are too short.
*is getting really good at throwing major Tantrums in wal-mart, any other store we usually make it through, but walmart...hmmm.
*is in love with Elmo. She sleeps with a small stuffed elmo every night, and cries for him if she can't find him.
*loves watching movies with animals, or her favorite Barney...(especially if we let her watch it on the portable DVD player. This makes her incredibly happy)
*loves to fold laundry (yes she actually folds some of it) and dust with a rag. Finds the swiffer to be hilarious, and laughs the entire time i mop.(maybe it's me she is laughing at..not the mop???)
* can say so many words, i'm having a hard time keeping track. says small phrases, like There she is, There he is, Grandma, Barney Please???
*loves the water, and taking a bath. She loves her cups that she can dump water back and forth in. Washes her own toes and button.
*loves to color (and rarely colors on things she's not suppose to like grandma's brand new dresser and window seals...)
*is a picky eater.
*loves milk and her bottle... (yikes, yes she still has a bottle, but we are slowly weaning her..it's hard you know!!)
*deals well with mom going back to work.. i would too if i got to go to grandmas, watch my favorite movies, play with toys, pick on grandma's dogs, and be taken care of all day..sounds good doesn't it??
*loves to get in a little bit of mischief, is always curious about everything, and laughs when she gets in trouble.. oh boy are we in for it..
*is a good sleeper and a genuine good kid. we love her to pieces. it is hard to believe that in a few months she will be TWO. ugh why do they grow so fast..

Jess
*teaching fourth grade and loving it for the most part.
*trying to find spare time (does that exist) to do all the project and Christmas presents i have in mind...
*wishing i didn't work so i could take a trip to oklahoma with my mom to see my sister. I miss her ALOT!!
*wanting to lose some weight, but i ate dieting..
*wishing there was more time, or sometimes the desire to make big fancy delicious meals for dinner.
*is trying to avoid getting H1N1 from school, but seriously its gonna happen.. i hang out with germ carriers all day every day....

Nate
*going to school two nights a week.
*loving his new job. He has to be to work at 6 a.m. but is home when i get home from school everyday. I am loving this, and Miss. Savannah thinks she's in heaven that her daddy is home when she gets home.
*is working on a car project, which i am hoping is done soon so i can park in the garage before it snows...maybe???
*is already planning on what he is giving away on halloween to all the kiddies in the neighborhood. He loves this, so make sure you stop by and get something good.
*is on the hunt for new tires at a REALLY good price for his fourwheeler.

All in all we are doing well.

life is good.

you ever have one of those days that can't get much better, and you just stop and think life is good.
This was one of those days.
the baby was happy.
nathan found a new job...we wouldn't have join the millions of unemployed in the country.. we just get to go from the old job to a new job.
all is well.
We are truly blessed.

savannah loves to swing and thanks to grandma and grandpa thompson, she now has a great new swing set.

and remember that tiny little puppy named Uno..not so tiny anymore.. but still a kick in the pants, and so full of personality.

the monkey has a cold...just wants mamma to hold her and so while I hold her we've been lookin at a few things... some i'm thinking about re-creating, others just enjoying..
thinking about making a couple of onsies for new babes, and making my own monkey a tee shirt for fall with this pattern.

thinking about making both of these into embrioderies for little reminders...

found both of these prints in an etsy shop..seriously thinking about buying a print of each to hang up. love love love them.

a busy month

well, since my last post we have been busy around here. it is hard for me to believe but next wednesday I will be back at school... my how the summer flies by. I am sad to leave my sweet girl, watching her grow each day is amazing, but knowing that she is with my mom, makes it all better. I am excited to go to school, i only have 17 students this year. I love a small class.
in august we celebrated nathan's 29th birthday, and he got lots of stuff for heading back to school himself. His job opporunity ends soon and he will be starting back to school at ISU in radiology. We are excited about this new adventure, and have to admit a little nervous at the same time.
Savannah has been enjoying her summer, and lately has been spending lots of time in the pool, and outside. She is also mommies little shadow, and has a new favorite thing to do after nap time.. coloring, she loves it.
Savannah is also saying tons of new words such as: How Cute, thank you, welcome, see ya, four, five, mine, chicken. It is so fun to watch her vocabulary develop, and simply amazing.
We went to our family reunion in Ogden, and have just been trying to soak up a few more summer days, and hopefully cross a few more things off my to-do list before school starts again.
