On Sept 20 we celebrated a wedding day. Nates little brother Jon got married. He married Jamie who we love and adore. They are expecting a baby in March. We are so excited for them. We went to their wedding at the church house and then up to the reception at the big red barn. It was a wonderful day. Miss Savannah stuck it out pretty good considering she had 2, 20 minute naps. But as I was at their wedding, it reminded me of my own wedding day and how lucky and blessed I was to marry Nate and to know that we are together for eternity with our sweet little banana cakes.

Since then we have:

• planted the rest of our grass in the backyard


• got put into a new ward. We are now in the 16th ward (with my mom ;o))


• got Savannah some great new fall clothes.. dang she is cute.


• canned cinnamon pickles


• canned salsa


• went to a gigantic farmers market and picked our own corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, and cantalope.


• cleaned the craft(crap) room.


• cleaned out all the summer clothes from Savannah's room.

Life is good in Idaho, the trees are changing and fall is in the air... I am sooo happy. I love fall.

just thinking

Today as I was reading http://blog.cjanerun.com/ and learning the latest updates on the sweet family who's lives have been interrupted by a tragedy, (some of you may have seen them on the today show last week) I began to think about my own life and the kind of mother I want to be and I remember a talk by Russell M. Ballard at conference a few years ago, and it reminded me of how important simple moments are and that I need to enjoy every second I have with my sweet family. I do not know what I would do if something tragic happened but I do hope that I would face it with the same courage, dedication, faith and hope that Steph and Christian's family have.

Author Anna Quindlen reminds us not to rush past the fleeting moments. She said: “The biggest mistake I made [as a parent] is the one that most of us make. . . . I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I hope that I will never let those "fleeting moments" pass without some recognition, and I hope that I will find delight in the little things and that I can teach Savannah the same. For truly life is made up of small simple moments. They are the moments that should take our breath away.

My challenge: enjoy the little moments today. document them. savor them.

daily life

not much has gone on since the last time I blogged. I successfully pulled off Jamies bridal shower. It was a great day. I was excited to do it, and I'm excited it's over. :0) The wedding is this weekend. I am happy for Jon and Jamie and wish them the best, and I'm excited to have a new sister in law.

Savannah is down with a cold. Sinus infection to be exact and so all she wants is to be held, day and night. She cries when I leave the room. (that makes me feel good, like she knows that I will always make her feel better, and i hope I always do. ) She went with grandma to the doctor yesterday, and got to have a bubble gum dum-dum. She LOVED it. My sweet girl is so funny. She also is way into bath time. If I take her out of the tub (which I have to at some point) she throws the biggest fit you can imagine, arches her back, screams the whole nine yards.

I am busy teaching school. I love it. At times working in the educational system is hard, but so worth it when a student lights up because they understand something.

8 months

Miss savannah is officially eight months old.

We absolutely adore her. Here are some of the highlights of the past month

• she is sitting up completely by herself


• is easily entertained with a basket of toys. (loves to empty it so she can play with the basket)


• eats like a maniac. Apricots and Cherries are just two of her favorites


• weighs in at around 24 lbs, but is getting SO tall.


• is beginning to wave bye-bye.


• says da-da.


• loves anything that moves. especially our dog and cat.


• watches Mickey Mouse Clubhouse faithfully.


• has outgrown all her warm pjs. (another trip to the store is coming soon)


• laughs at everything.


• is starting to bury her head in my shoulder and act shy around people she doesn't know.


• goes to grandmas everyday. (loves it there)


• wants to crawl.


• won the chubbiest baby contest at the fair. ( and got an awesome new trike to prove it.)


• is our entire world

fun filled weekend

So we had a wonderful labor day weekend. Most of it was spent working on the yard and house. I am hosting a bridal shower for my new sister in law Jaime in two weekends and so I wanted to get some decorating done, and we threw down some more grass seed so that the grasshoppers would find another place to live.

it was also a very wet and rainy cold weekend, but we did have the chance to b-bque on our little patch of grass. YEAH! Miss. Savannah LOVED it. She loves to pick grass and found ladybugs to be the most exciting things ever.

Nathan was also out flying his remote controlled airplanes and Savannah loved those as well. She is a very inquisitive and curious little monster.

I also was very excited to get my new curtains hung up in the dining room. They add so much to the space and I love red so that makes it even better.
