a little drive

about a week ago, we decided to go for a little drive up to alpine to see the elk. now as a kid, i remembered there being thousands of elk.. now not so many, but the drive was beautiful.

miss. savannah slept the whole way there and part of the way back. what a sweetheart.

savannah at one.

it's sad and hard to say that my baby is now a toddler..okay.. to me she is still a baby, no matter what anyone else tells me. but some of her stats at one are..
  • she is 31 inches tall
  • weighs 25 lbs
  • can say mama, dada, izzie and reese (grandma's dogs), kitty, dog, yeah, mmmm (more)
  • she can count to 3. (hard to believe but it's true)
  • crawls like a maniac.
  • uses furniture to walk.. no independent walking yet.
  • still toothless
  • loves goldfish crackers, cheese, chicken and yogurt bites.
  • getting better at using a spoon and a sippy cup.
  • loves to read books especially books about animals. knows that a cow moos.. soo funny to hear her say it.
  • loves to play with the cat and reese.
  • is happy unless it's 8 p.m. then she wants her mama and her bed.
  • feeds herself her own bottle.
  • LOVES milk. when we first started giving it to her, she would only drink milk, nothing else for about a week. too funny.
  • knows that when the garage opens it means that dada is home.
  • LOVES baths. has graduated from her bath seat.
  • plays catch. she has a really good arm.. maybe a future softball player.
  • loves to dance and clap to music.
  • says yeah and then everyone is expected to clap... no she's not spoiled at all..
  • is learning how to climb on to things.
  • loves to go for rides. (this is so different from when she was little. She hated the car and her car seat. I tried to not to go to town because she would cry the whole way there and back.)
  • plays peek-a-boo and loves to be chased while she is crawling.
  • loves to climb into a laundry basket full of clean clothes and then throw them on the floor. she also likes to unfold clean laundry.
  • gives big kisses and hugs.
  • loves her baby dolls.

and two days after christmas...

Savannah turned ONE!

so the week of Christmas is a busy one for us.. first christmas, then the 27th savannah turned one, and on the 31st momma turned 27. Since it is more fun to brag and show pictures of my baby, we are just going to skip my birthday... except to say, I was simply spoiled.

miss. savannah...oh what a cutie... she loved the attention on her birthday and her presents. all of my family including her great grandma and second cousins were at our house, and all of nate's family came. Plus aunt katie and uncle tim... momma and dads greatest friends were in attendance. It was a great party if you ask us. here are a few pictures from the celebration...

the new ball popper. seriously the best toy invented.. except for the carnival like music.. if only it had a mute button.

the family...we sure love this little monkey..

eating cake.. she really didn't like it... only tried a little of the frosting and then off to play with toys and cousins.

sporting her great onsie.. i fount it at freddies the morning of her party. with a cupcake and babies first birthday. it was perfect. gotta love carters.

loving her new pink bear from aunt katie and uncle tim. happy birthday banana cakes.. we sure do love you oodles and noodles baby girl.

better late than never...

well, I am finally posting about christmas.
We had a pretty low key Christmas this year. Both of our families live within five miles of each other and we usually make it to both houses every year. This year, seeing how we had Savannah, we spent Christmas morning at home. It was fun to see Savannah get into opening presents. Granted she liked the boxes and paper and moms new mixer more than anything. Your perspective on Christmas definately changes when you have little ones.

daddy's new shoes..

new mega block pian from great aunt karen.. she is in love with this thing. in fact we've had to hide it from her, because it also frustrates her. funny girl.

and momma's beaters to her new mixer. The best gift from santa, if you ask savannah
After our morning together and a good nap, we headed out to Nate's parents house. It was snowing like crazyand we had to take our car back home and trade for the truck so we could make it there.

then off to my parents, where savannah was asleep for the first two hours of the adventure, and my family waited for her to wake up before we had christmas. It was a wonderful day spent with family.
all in all it was a quiet, but delightful day.I love the holidays.
